 Your sleep might be a bit more than having bad sleep hygiene,  It might be something bigger.  Things such as mental illness and insomnia can cause sleep deprivation.  Depression, although not directly effecting sleep, can cause people to lose interest to sleep.  Insomia is a byproduct of depression and repeated bad sleep habits.

Depression

0-90% of people with diagnosed depression also have a sleep problem.  Depression can result in insomnia but it can be the other way around.  Deppression and insomia are very closely linked

Insomnia

Insomnia is the main reason for sleep dprevation in adults.  Insomia is caused by Depression and bad sleep hygiene.  Insomnia can be not being able to sleep at all to waking up in the middle of the night.

Call To Action

A Solution for insomnia is not easy and clear cut, but there is treatment towards the issues.  Getting to be more open about mental illness is a big step.  Acknowledging that it is a serious issue and can be treated.  Putting yourself in care and therapy is a really good way to relieve negative thoughts and feelings to get it out of the system.  Taking medication can cause you to have a better mood and become drowsier, but side affects will always happen.
